The first ever staging of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" on the water! (France, May 1995)

The 25-minute performance, consisting of several acts on the music from the ballet Swan Lake, was first shown in the Norman city of Caen as part of an hour-long performance of the Teatr na vode. A foreign circus performer, French juggler M. Tam, was invited to play the role of Siegfried and in the show epilogue 50 young athletes from Normandy sports clubs performed.

A new version of the water show "Swan Lake", with new water and dance acts, as well as contact juggling performance by the French artist R. Laroussenie, was shown in the municipal swimming pool of La Rochelle for 3 days. An almost one-and-a-half-hour performance (with intermission) performed by 9 synchronized swimmers and one circus performer, with minimal technical support and without a single billboard in the city, gathered full stands on the 2nd and 3rd days. At the final performance, the French audience gave the band a standing ovation for almost 10 minutes!

In the 29 years since the premiere of the water show Swan Lake in 1995, the directors of the Theater on the Water have created and shown several different staging of the great musical work by P.I. Tchaikovsky:


  • In 2003, Maria Maximova created a choreographed 15-minute version of Swan Lake for the Theater on the Water program at the Crocus City Mall
  • In 2006, an hour-long water performance was created for the SynchroCircuStar project, which was shown in Saint-Cyprien (France).
  • In 2008, as part of the 90th anniversary of the GTSOLIFK (RUS) Theater on the Water, he staged a choreographic and circus performance for a festive show in the Olympic Sports Complex swimming pool.
  • In 2009 Gana Maximova choreographed water choreography for the ballet and circus performance Swan Lake by the Taranda Imperial Ballet, which was shown at the Olympic Swimming Pool in Beijing (China).

Swan Lake with the world synchronized swimming stars!
In 2006, in the French city of San Cyprien, as part of the international SynchroCircuStar project (details can be found on the project page), a new choreographic circus version of Swan Lake was shown with the participation of 3-time world champion French synchronized swimmer Virginie Dedieu, flamenco dancer from Brazil Bernardo Suzaytsiliani, French circus performers and Theater on the water water performers.

Swan Lake in Olympic Sports Center!
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Russian University of Sports, the Theater on the Water showed a new version of the water show Swan Lake. More than 70 artists participated in the performance, including almost 50 athletes from Moscow's youth schools. In addition to the management of the GTSOLIFK Theater on the Water, more than 500 pupils from orphanages and boarding schools in Moscow were invited to the performance.

60 performances! More than 3,600,000 viewers!
By order of the Ministry of Culture of China, a ballet performance Swan Lake was created specifically for the Beijing Olympic Swimming Pool Water cube with the participation of the Imperial Russian Ballet, an international synchronized swimming group and Chinese divers. The show was performed daily for two months and during this time it was visited by more than three and a half million Chinese viewers and tourists of the Chinese capital.
